Service Learning Projects |
|
Service learning provides an opportunity for students to learn about helping others in the school, the community and the world at large. At the same time, projects are linked to the curriculum and as such are an integral part of instruction at each grade level. Service learning is the second of two student performance objectives of the current phase of our Middle States Association accreditation. The Association for Service Learning and Education Reform (ALSER) service learning model is used for projects. It identifies 11 standards for a successful service project and is useful in judging the success of all our 13 service learning projects. Examples of service projects include fundraising and learning activities to save the Amazon rain forests and to send children in China funding for school.
