| Hello Students and Parents,
I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you, however, for those of you who don’t know me, I want to briefly introduce myself. My name is Alexandra Oriol. I have been teaching for over 25 years, 21 of those have been at BFIS. Most of my professional background and experience is related to language learning/development. I have a B. A. in Spanish Literature, St. Joseph’s College in New York, and have attended numerous workshops on reading, language, and learning difficulties. I am also experienced in Second Language Acquisition and ESL, where I hold a M. Ed., from Trenton College, New Jersey and a second Masters degree in Speech Pathology (Patologías del Lenguaje) from Instituto de Estudios Psicológicos, in Barcelona. I have worked with Elementary, Middle and High School students.
Being at BFIS since 1986 has given me the unique opportunity of watching very young learners develop into mature, respectful, critical thinkers. I have enjoyed teaching children to learn and improve their Spanish and English skills for many years. This year, I will also be working very closely with the Elementary and MS/HS Principals, as the Admissions Coordinator.
This summer, I rested, enjoyed my family and also kept busy working on the design and creation of a new course together with five members from the Spanish Department. We all anticipate this new course to be interesting, productive and full of activities, projects and lots of Spanish learning. I am excited about this year’s classes and very proud to be working with a wonderful Spanish and international staff.
