Welcome to College Counselling 12 with Ms. McDiarmid!
College Counselling 12 is a course designed for university-bound seniors. Students will use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to learn more about themselves and their personalities and will then apply this knowledge to the selection of career paths, colleges, and long-term goals. Students will use a variety of research methods (internet, college visits, experience of friends and family members, ranking books and college guides among others) to refine their list of potential colleges. During this process, seniors will also spend some time preparing for college admissions tests including the SAT, SAT II Subject Tests, ACT and TOEFL. Students will be given class time to complete five to ten college applications to be submitted to colleges by the end of the semester.
Please note that this course is for students who are focusing their college search outside of Spain. Those students looking primarily at Spanish universities will be working with Ms. Pilar Hernando.

Welcome to College
Counselling 11 with Ms. McDiarmid!
College Counselling 11 is
a course designed for college-bound juniors. Students will use the Myers Briggs
Type Indicator to learn more about themselves and their personalities and will
then apply this knowledge to the selection of career paths, colleges, and
long-term goals. Students will
then use a variety of research methods to create lists of potential
colleges. Students will also learn
the details of the application processes for universities in the United States,
Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries in which our students show interest.
Students will spend some time learning about, and preparing for, college
admissions tests including the SAT Reasoning Test, SAT Subject Tests, the ACT
and the TOEFL. The culminating
activity of this course will be a college admissions simulation, where students
will become members of a university admissions committee and evaluate the
applications of four fictional students.
This course is designed to help students complete much of their college
search process and college admissions testing before they enter their final
year of high school.
