Mission

The Benjamin Franklin International School is an independent college-preparatory school which embodies the values of international education by creating an environment of broad-mindedness, multilingualism, and respect. We offer a rich, rigorous foundation in the liberal arts and sciences. In the partnership between teachers and students, community is lived through purposeful experiences that connect teaching and learning to the world. At BFIS, we view education as an opportunity for children to learn how to use their minds well and become global citizens, able to build a more just and habitable world.

Philosophy

Commitment to individual development has been a tenet of Benjamin Franklin since its founding. We believe that every student, regardless of color, creed, national or ethnic origin should experience an education that maximizes individual potential.

We believe that knowledge is incomplete without an understanding of and appreciation for the world and its many cultures.

As an international school, we educate our students to become citizens of the world.

Our students learn respect, tolerance and understanding of other cultures by working and playing and learning together.

At Benjamin Franklin International School, we believe:

  • Our chief priority is the educational and personal growth of our students.
  • Children learn at different rates and in different ways.
  • Academic excellence is attainable and worth the effort.
  • Education is a shared responsibility of students, teachers, administrators, governing bodies, families, and the community. * Life-long learning is important in a changing and diverse society.
  • The transmission of cultural heritages is a major responsibility of education.
