Volunteer Clubs - There is only one active service learning club at the elementary, the International Education and Research Network or IEARN. When students perform their Middle States projects, their experiences are shared online.
Middle States – Elementary School students have selected to perform a variety of projects- school, community, and world-based. Some grades have repeated successful projects done in the first year of MSA while others have decided to do something different and start up new projects.
- Grade K – Grade K starts off the ES year of service with its annual drive to collect cat and animal items for a local animal shelter. Students go online to learn about the various animal breeds and the problem of lost and abandoned pets.
- Grade 1 – G1 has chosen to perform the World We Live In project for the past 2 years. This is a social studies-based project where students study not only Barcelona but also Egypt then share their thoughts on IEARN.
- Grade 2 – G2 has committed itself the past 2 years to the recycling of paper, print cartridges, and small batteries. Each G2 student is assigned a place in the elementary school for recycling. This project was featured in an IEARN monthly newsletter.
- Grade 3 – G3 chose a hunger and nutrition service project with a Philippine school. Students researched problem with food in the world then conducted a fundraiser to lift the nutritional level in one school in the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
- Grade 4 – G4 chose to repeat a service project to benefit Madagascar. Students first studied Africa in general and Madagascar in particular in their Social Studies class then conducted a fundraiser to buy books for the Akany Avoko School.
- Grade 5 – G5 once again worked to save Latin American Rain Forests. Students studied the rain forest in Brazil, staged plays as fundraisers, and subsidized support of several acres of rain forests in Amazonia.
