An integral part of the social studies curriculum is Model United Nations . BFIS stages an annual in-house M.U.N. for early high and middle school participants. After obtaining this initial experience, students can continue improving their debate and lobbying skills by joining the High School M.U.N. Club. This after school activity prepares delegates for larger, internationally renowned conferences held at various locations (most recently in The Hague, and Portugal). Dedicated seniors culminate their Model U.N. experience by attending a very competitive conference in Beijing, China, which is enriched by cultural aspect of the trip. Throughout middle and high school BFIS supports a strong Model United Nations program which fosters both public speaking skills and a solid knowledge of world events.
