Technology @BFIS means being connected and having access. The current heading of BFIS is to become a 1:1 schooll - all Middle/High School students will eventually be required to use a laptop in school. The umbrella for this objective is New Century Learning (NCL).

BFIS staff and students communicate using the BFIS Connex system. Working in partnership with Google (via their Google Apps service) we provide staff and students with essential tools for email communication and applications for various types of document authoring and online document editting, sharing and storage.

The BFIS campus is peppered with a myriad of resources available to our community. Following are broad strokes of what is available and where:

Community Resources

  • All staff have access to various digital photo and video cameras as well as specialized recording equipment
  • Each classroom is equipped with one PC running MS Windows XP and loaded with various software packages
  • Wireless network access is available througout the Elementary School building as well as the main building
  • Digital projectors are available on an as-need basis to all staff
  • Each art room is equipped with an Apple iMac and a digital projector

 

5thgElementary School

  • Grades 2 and 3 have an Apple iMac computer - in addition to the teacher computer - that is used by students for additional learning support
  • Grades 4 and 5 have access to 20 wireless laptops loaded with various software packages to aid in research and multimedia creation

 

 

maclabMiddle/High School

  • One multimedia lab with 12 Apple iMacs and a digital projector
  • One small computer lab with 8 computers and a printer
