High School After-School Activities

Girls and Boys Basketball Teams

Semester Fee: 250€ (about 55€ per month) 

Semester Bus fee: 60€

New players will be required to buy a team uniform.

Teams will practice once a week in excellent facilities off campus. Students will play friendly matches to prepare for the BISA tournament. Some players will be invited to travel for the Iberia tournament.

Manga/Comic/Drawing
Wednesdays 3:15 - 4:30 pm

Semester Fee: 270€ 

Students will explore different ways to show emotion and action though their manga or comic characters while learning fun drawing skills. 

MS/HS Musical
Mondays and Thursdays 4:15 - 5:30 pm

Semester Fee: 350€

Students develop production, rehearsal, and performance skills culminating in a full hour-long musical in the spring.

Concertante Music Academy
Mondays through Thursdays 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Monthly Fees: Varies. Payment is made to Concertante Academy on a monthly basis 
Concertante Music Program starts October 1st

Minimum trial period of 3 months

Individual instrument lessons range from 30 minutes to one hour and schedules will be set on a case-by-case basis keeping in mind the schedules of music teachers, the ages of the students, and family preferences. Classes are offered for piano, violin, cello, drums, guitar and other instruments on request. Families can observe classes to see if they are interested. Minimum trial period of 3 months.

Cheer Dance

Wednesdays 3:15 - 4:15 pm

Semester Fee: 250€ 


Cheer Dance is the dance portion of cheerleading, with choreography based on pom dance, jazz, hiphop and line dancing (tumbling and stunts are not included). Cheer Dance focuses on dance skills as well as team coordination. Students will learn moves and routines with a cheer dance coach from Danceescool.

Teen Yoga

In addition to improving flexibility and mental focus, yoga is well known to combat stress and improve the connection between mind and body. This class is specifically designed to address the needs of teenagers while teaching them to take care of themselves, both physically and mentally.

Tennis
Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 - 5:30 pm
Off Campus
Semester Fee: 350€

Students will travel by school bus for their lessons at the Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy. All levels welcome. Students will be grouped by age and level. Bus returns to BFIS. 

Study Hall 
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 4:15 - 5:15 pm. Wednesdays 3:15 - 4:15 pm.  
MS/HS Campus 
Fees: Free 

Students who would benefit from a structured environment for working on homework are welcome to stay after-school in Study Hall. Study Hall is a quiet place to work, and wait for after-school activities to start. This is not a tutoring activity, the teacher(s) on duty will be able to answer simple homework related questions and provide general guidance.

BFIS collaborates with two excellent tutoring companies -- AE Teaching and Bee Tutored International -- who each provide a wide-range of services in many subject areas. Both of these companies are able to provide tutoring on campus in the MS/HS Library. Schedules are determined based on family preferences and tutor availability. Please contact them directly with particular requests. Please be aware that for security reasons, only external tutors from these two companies are allowed on campus. All other private tutoring must take place off campus.
