The libraries strive to be intellectual cornerstones of BFIS by linking our school community to an ever wider circle of literature, knowledge and information.

  • To promote life-long learning in this age of globalization, the BFIS library provides support for the community by:
  • fostering a love of reading and literature
  • encouraging reading as an essential and fundamental habit
  • promoting independent learning and critical thinking
  • offering a collection of materials that support the curriculum
  • ensuring that students have access to information representing a wide variety of perspectives and viewpoints
  • collecting and providing information in a variety of formats
  • supporting our teachers’ instruction
  • providing students with the skills to search for, evaluate and use information effectively and independently

  • Over 16.000 books, including 3200 picture books, 2300 young adult novels and 400 graphic novels 
  • Over 1000 films and videos
  • 225 audiobooks with instant access to over 200,000 titles via
  • 50 e-books with instant access to millions of titles
  • 6 loanable e-readers
  • 19 databases & digital encyclopedias for high-quality academic content
  • 17 print magazines
  • 3 print newspaper subscriptions (Int'l NY Times, La Vanguardia & El Mundo Deportivo)
  • Over 1000 active users, including students, staff & parents
  • Over 5200 checkouts per year

During the year, BFIS libraries host visiting authors for workshops, book presentations and read alouds. In addition to visiting authors events, the BFIS Libraries hosts several week-long book fairs, offering a wide selection of quality titles for purchase in both English and Spanish language.
