One of the distinctive traits of BFIS is the importance we give to our community and how deeply we care about it. With more than 63 nationalities and cultural heritages in our school community, this richness of backgrounds, languages, and experiences is a source of pride and an essential element of our school.
US and IB Curriculum
Our curriculum is aligned with progressive standards that have been developed for schools in the USA and adopted by international schools around the world. BFIS offers a differentiated American curriculum from Nursery to Grade 10 ( 3 to 16 yrs. old) complemented with the International Baccalaureate MYP (Grades 6-10). In Grades 11 and 12 (16-18 yrs old) the school offers de International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP).
IB Results
Our graduates obtain excellent International Baccalaureate Diploma Program results and receive offers of acceptance from some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Eco-School
BFIS was awarded in June 2021 the Green Flag through Eco Schools, a visible indication of a school’s commitment to learning for sustainability and an internationally recognized accreditation for excellence in sustainable education. BFIS is one of the few international schools in Spain to obtain this recognition.
Located in the city
BFIS is a private, non-for-profit school located in the beautiful Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighborhood, in the city of Barcelona, with many public transportation options nearby and access to main roads in and out the city.

BFIS Teachers
While curriculum is the foundation of a strong educational program, teachers are the heart and soul of any school. Much of what students learn from their greatest teachers is not detailed on a syllabus. They build and maintain positive and meaningful relationships with students, promote health and emotional wellbeing in the classroom, respect students’ differences and ways of thinking, encourage kids to persevere and think out of the box and help to create a caring and loving environment.
