Thanks to the remarkable dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of the Benjamin Franklin International School Going Green Committee, our school was awarded the Green Flag this past summer. This is a recognition of our school’s commitment with education for sustainable development. This award doesn’t come along without setting first and achieving later a number of ambitious goals to enhance learning for sustainability and take action to make our school a more sustainable environment.
Education for Sustainable Development is recognized as integral element of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 and designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”.
Our Going Green Committee was created three years ago by BFIS students, families and staff. We couldn’t be more proud of the work they have done so far.
In the infographic below, we highlight some of their extraordinary achievements. These accomplishments encourages us to continue advocating for greater education for sustainability and taking action to make our world a more sustainable place for everyone.
