Forest School is an exciting opportunity that we are developing initially for our younger children in Pre K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
This Forest School programme is tailored to meet the needs of individuals within each group and is continuously developed as the children/young people grow in confidence, skills and understanding. The ethos of Forest Schools allows learners the time and space to develop skills, interests and understanding through practical, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. It is a child-led approach whereby the practitioners will work with the children to build on experiences they are interested in.
Forest School provides real life experiences which create independent learners and problem solvers. It teaches resilience and risk taking skills, enhances the children’s communication skills and abilities and equips them with a love for the outdoors and the surrounding environment.
Forest School is a long term process so here at BFIS, we are starting with shorter sessions in school, once a week which will develop over the year to give the children a whole day experience once a week or every other week in the nearby Natural Park of the Collserola.
