Elizabeth Mahaffey joined BFIS in August 2023. She comes from Dallas, Texas and joined BFIS as the Whole School Support Team Leader. For the last couple of years, she worked in a mid-sized district (26,000 students) in the Dallas area as a Special Education Instructional Coach. She has 22 years of experience as a special education teacher/leader/coach and English as a Second Language teacher. Previously, she had also worked at the Elementary International School Awsaj Academy in Doha, Qatar, as a learning support teacher and at the International School of Lima, in Peru as the middle school learning support head and teacher.
Liz has been very involved in both the school and church communities having led numerous volunteer organizations and coached cheer/dance teams for over 10 years.
She earned her bachelor’s from Texas A&M University-Commerce in Health and Special Education. She later went on to receive her master’s from Amberton University in Family Studies Counseling. In 2022-2023 Liz attended Lamar University where she completed her certificate in School Administration.
