IB Results 2020
Last July, more than 170,000 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP) students across the world received their IB May 2020 results. BFIS is once again delighted to announce another year of excellent IBDP results. This year, our eighth year in the IB Diploma Program, our cohort included 57 diploma candidates and 2 course candidates. The pass rate for our diploma candidates was 97% and our average pass rate for the past 5 years is 99.4%, a number far above the worldwide average pass rate of 79%.
The BFIS average score reached 35 points (the worldwide average was 29,9). Our highest score was 43 points and 11 students (19%) scored 40 points or more, which places them among the top 10% worldwide. It is also worth mentioning that 26 BFIS IB candidates (46%) were awarded the bilingual diploma and that 11 students scored a perfect A on their Extended Essay. Our IB results since 2013 (BFIS first IBDP cohort) are specially rewarding since BFIS is an inclusive school providing high quality education to a diverse student community.
BFIS students from the Class of 2020 gained entry into a range of competitive colleges and universities worldwide, including University of St. Andrews Lancaster University, University of Bath, University College London (UCL), University of Exeter, University of California Davis (UCD), University of Miami, University of Toronto, McGill University, ESADE and ESSEC Business School among many others. It is worth mentioning that 85% of our IBDP students got accepted into their first choice of university in 2020.
The significant accomplishments of our students during such a challenging academic program are a credit to their hard work and to the efforts of our faculty and families in supporting them over the two-year course. Our goal as a school is to continue to offer our students a high quality IB education as we strive to make our program even stronger. We wish our Class of 2020 every success as they enter the next phase of their life and education.
