From March 25th to the  27th, we welcomed Nalanie Harilela, who talked to our students and teachers about our following core values; Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Honest and be Responsible. The aim of these talks was to learn how core values can bring out the best in human beings. The talks encouraged students to understand what these core values look like in action by someone who has dedicated their life to selfless service.

About Nalanie

Nalanie is a modern spiritual teacher dedicated to selfless service. She was born in 1954 into the distinguished Indian family the Harilela’s. She grew up in the presence of a close family friend, who, unbeknown at the time, was to have a deep and lasting influence in her life. This frequent visitor and friend was Swami Satchidananda. (Juliet Hollister Interfaith award winner at the UN alongside the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandala).

Nalanie  travels the world to spread a message of wisdom, compassion and love, based on the philosophy of Yoga. Her work takes her to schools, companies, hospitals, hospices and homes for the elderly where she speaks and offers counselling to those in need. Nalanie is the founder of the Integral Yoga Centre Gibraltar and George Harilela Hall in Sotogrande, she gives talks both there and Internationally.

In March 2008, Nalanie received an Honour in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second New Years Honour's List. She was recognised for her 'Services to Humanity'.

In 2009 Nalanie set up an association called "Service in Satchidananda", a non-profit international collective of charities based on the core teaching of selfless service. She is the founder of an orphanage and school in Nepal (Aasha Ko Kiran Children’s home, Daldale, Chitwan) and a dedicated mother of two and grandmother of five.
