Imagining New Realities
At BFIS, our vision is to engage and empower students of every age through experiences that cultivate their creativity and innovation skills. We promote a culture that embraces curiosity, risk-taking, "failing-forward", and reflection to nurture creativity and innovation. When students have more opportunities to do and learn in context they have the space to imagine new realities.
Curriculum Design
At BFIS, our curriculum is built on maker-centered and inquiry-based learning, empowering students to explore, question and create. Through hands-on projects and open-ended challenges, learners develop a deep understanding by actively constructing knowledge.
We prioritize student voice and choice, encouraging them to pursue their passions, take ownership of their learning journeys and design solutions that truly matter to them. By encouraging students to ask questions, challenge assumptions and explore new perspectives, we cultivate an environment where bold ideas can take root and thrive.
Our approach to assessment values process over perfection, emphasizing growth, reflection and iteration. Students are encouraged to see "failing forward" as a natural and essential part of learning - an opportunity to refine ideas, deepen understanding and develop resilience - all fundamental elements of creativity and innovation.
The Right Environment
The physical and emotional design of our learning environment is vital in fostering creativity and innovation. We offer:
- Flexible spaces: Our Makerspace, sound studio (coming soon), labs, and collaborative areas are designed to encourage teamwork and experimentation.
- Technology integration: We provide tools that support design thinking, prototyping, coding, digital storytelling, and more.
- Outdoor & real-world learning: We offer multiple opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom walls.
In 2026, BFIS will proudly open the doors to a new building, The Center for Creativity and Innovation - a dynamic space where the Creative Arts, Science, Design, Engineering, and Sports will unite.
