Athletics at BFIS
Athletics, and sports in general, offer opportunities to cultivate communication and leadership skills, to work as part of a team, and to develop resilience by learning to meet success and failure head-on. Sports are a great lesson in time management and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Building relationships
Many research studies reveal that participation in Sports Programs improves students’ physical health, stress management, self-confidence and academic benchmarks. School athletes work together in practices preparing for competitions. They build relationship and learn to care for each other. At BFIS all students are encouraged to participate in and enjoy themselves across a wide range of sports and team sports. There are both, competitive inter-school sports leagues at a local level and also inter-schools sports competitions within international schools in and outside Spain.
BFIS Middle School Soccer Team’s Journey to Triumph
The journey of our Middle School Soccer Team in the Barcelona school local league (CEEB Consell de l’Esport Escolar de Barcelona) has been nothing short of remarkable. Overall, 32 teams were competing, making the journey to the top a bit daunting!
What started as a challenging season transformed into a story of growth, resilience, and ultimate triumph. The team’s path to victory was marked by significant milestones and moments that highlighted their development in confidence, teamwork, and skills.

New State-of-the-Art gymnasium
We are thrilled to announce a major addition to our school campus that will take our commitment to innovation and creativity to the next level. In Fall 2026, we will inaugurate the brand-new Center for Innovation and Creativity, a space dedicated to nurturing the imagination and talents of our students.
As part of this exciting development, we are also constructing a state-of-the-art gymnasium right beneath the Center for Innovation and Creativity. This gymnasium will not only provide our students with a top-notch facility for physical fitness and sports but also serve as an extension of our commitment to holistic education.
We can’t wait to unveil these incredible facilities in Fall 2026. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey of growth and innovation!
